Types of Fills
Polyester batting - This is an ideal material for accent forms that aren't required to do much more than look pretty. Polyester batting makes a firm form that will hold it's shape well. These are the least expensive forms that we manufacture. The ticking is a soft non-woven accord (it looks alot like a paper towel). If you would like a pillow that you can squish, fluff or will hold a karate chop, you might consider either the Cluster Fiber or a down and feather fill.
Cluster Fiber - (formerly known as Comforel) These small clusters of polyester are fluffable like down, hypo-allergenic, and washable. Cluster fiber pillows are fuller than batting forms and they are firmer than down and feather forms. Cluster Fiber pillows are lined in a 100% cotton down proof ticking, which allows air to pass easily from the outside to inside the form when fluffing.
Down and Feather - Pillows filled with down and feather blends are softer and squishier than any polyester fill. You can mash them, flatten them and they will always fluff back up. They hold a karate chop and are shapable, fluff them up to make a full form, or squeeze the air out to make a flat form. Down and feather blends are referred to by the percentage of down to the percentage of feathers, for instance, 10% down and 90% feathers (10/90), or 25% down and 75% feathers (25/75), etc. The species of bird from which the blend is derrived is abbreviated as GD for Grey Duck, GG for Grey Goose and WGD for White Goose Down. All down and feather pillows are lined in a 100% cotton down proof ticking, which allows air to pass easily from the outside to inside the form when fluffing.
